The daughter of Eldridge and Velda (Fuerst) Pearson, she was born October 23, 1950, in Parkston, South Dakota. As a child, Jolene lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in 1968. She then graduated from Nettleton Commercial College in 1969 and moved to Washington, DC, where she met the love of her life, The Very Rev. David R. Amo, and they were married on April 22, 1972, in Sioux Falls. They subsequently moved to Northern Michigan in 1972. Jolene worked at the Burns Clinic for 27 years. Before her death, she retired from North Central Michigan College after working 14 years there.

Jolene was a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Cheboygan, MI. She was passionate about telling children about her Heavenly Father and taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She was also a foster mom to three children in her retirement years.

She is survived by her son Matthew and daughter-in-law, Jenny of Byron Center, MI, and her daughter, Emilee, and son-in-law, Eric, as well as grandsons, Elijah, Ethan, and Evan, of Petoskey. Jolene has one sister, Heidi Jorgenson, who lives in Madison, South Dakota, and one brother, Lance, who lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Her husband of 28 years, David, father, Eldridge, mother, Velda, and brothers, Gaylon and Rodney, preceded her in death.
