Veronica Lorraine Johnson, a vivacious presence in the Northern Michigan community, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 5th in Zionsville, Indiana. Veronica’s life began on January 7th, 1998, in Orange County, California, where she remained for her early years under the responsibility of the foster care system. By divine intervention, Veronica was removed from her trying circumstances and connected to her chosen and forever family who gave her the unconditional love and cherishment her innocent heart so deserved.
Here, in Boyne City, Michigan, Veronica blossomed, touching the lives of many with her generous soul and innate ability to bring people together. She was a devoted member of her local church, St. Matthew’s, and served as a cornerstone for her community through alter service, Church youth group, Habitat for Humanity, and Girl Scouts.
Throughout grade school and high school, Veronica remained a dedicated student and athlete. Her undeniable fearlessness in the pursuit of what she loved inspired strength in others to remain true to themselves.
Despite an untraditional upbringing in her formative years, Veronica fit perfectly into the role of an adoring and devoted daughter to her surviving parents, Thomas Bernard Johnson and Mary Lynn Johnson. The apple of their eye. Her presence illuminated their lives and every room she entered, her infectious laughter and youthful energy never ceased to lift the spirits of those around her. With a sparkle in her eyes that mirrored the radiance of her soul, Veronica was a beacon of joy and warmth to all who knew her.
In her brief yet full 26 years of life, Veronica held many titles to those who loved her; daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, loyal friend, and most recently loving wife and mother. Together with her surviving husband Elijah Baboucar Cham, they created life, bringing into the world two beloved children, Elliana Mariama Cham and Eliza Maimuna Cham, who inherited the sparkle and vibrancy of their mother.
Veronica’s unbreakable spirit and strength allowed her to overcome unimaginable challenges. Her perseverance, evident throughout her life's journey, is a true testament to the divine grace that guided her path, leading her to the love and support of many. Whether sharing adored moments with family or lending a listening ear to friends in need, Veronica's generosity knew no bounds. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, forever engraved in the hearts of her loved ones until they can one day meet again.
Veronica’s captivating spirit now soars among the angels, her light eternal, and her soul at peace in the embrace of our heavenly Father.
